I HAVE RETURNED

It has been a strange three months, thanks to Vietnam, the gift that keeps on giving. After 40 years, the dreams and some other stuff took control. But our merciful God never abandons us. I put things in His loving hands and he has responded to my prayers.

Thanks to the local VA hospital (and for other vets of the late unpleasantness "down in the republic", this is a new VA--not the one that we remember form the late 60s and early 70s), I'm making progress.

I have learned that the human mind is designed to help us deal with really bad stuff, but if you have to lock it away because there is other stuff to deal with, such as keeping the rest of your platoon alive, the bad stuff will fester until the boil on your soul ruptures, drenching it with the accumulated pain and torment. We're taking each day as it comes, but the tunnel is getting a little lighter.

In the meantime, please pray for all of our troops who are curently in harm's way. Same stuff, different time and place.

Thanks for the comment over at my place. I've been wondering about you, not seeing you comment on some of the blogs that we both frequent. So very glad that you're back. We'll be praying for you.
