There are a few that I have started and just couldn't finish, i.e., To Kill a Mockingbird, Catcher in the Rye,Crime and Punishment, Catch 22, and Watership Down.
I am also intrigued by some that are missing. I would have included Killer Angels - Michael Shara, Treasure Island and A Child's Garden of Verses - Robert Louis Stevenson, Lonesome Dove - Larry McMurty, The Virginian - Owen Wister, and the collected works of Rudyard Kipling, especially Barrack Room Ballads, Captains Courageous, and Kim. And I recommend Fields of Fire by my old shipmate and now US Senator Jim Webb, possibly the best novel to come out of the Vietnam War.
What say ye?

I wonder about including the People You Meet in Heaven book.
As for books I started but couldn't finish--Life of Pi. I didn't get that at all.
However, I've read 80 of the 100.
Maybe I need to get my nose out of the books!
QG
80 of the 100? I'm impressed!
Mac,
I enjoyed Webb's, "Born Fighting" a history of the scots-irish. Things presbyterian figure in quite heavily. No surprise that, given the title.

Wow, 35 is impressive, and way ahead of my paltry (and embarassing) count of 25. Can I count Jane Eyre, Little Women, and Emma multiple times since I've read them a few times each? ;)
I'm wondering, too, how they decided which works would be included. I'm wondering why Bridget Jones' Diary is on the list. But maybe I'm just judging it by the movie.
Your list and mine both have concentrations of books on top that grow more sparse further down the list. I wonder what that's about, as well as the choices. I would have added your choices to, plus things like "Into Thin Air". It didn't seem quite gender balanced, *she said, mocking political correctness*,
And QG? 80 books! Wow.
